Age Concern Okehampton and Torridge
NEWS UPDATE
Digital Changeover
We have launched an occasional newsletter for the West Devon and Torridge area giving information and advice for everyone on what the digital changeover means, what it entails and the possible pitfalls to avoid.
Although the two changeovers to affect this area will occur separately all broadcasting will go digital during 2009. There are several factors affecting the reception of digital television which means that for some it will be easy - the case of adding a small, inexpensive box. For others it may involve a new aerial and cabling. In some places there may be a wait until signal strength is improved.
We are concerned that everyone in the area should understand that they do not necessarily have to discard old equipment or buy new equipment simply to receive digital broadcasts. Our advice will be supported by a retired TV engineer and a supplier/fitter of aerials and TV equipment.
Initially we are giving the opportunity for people to sign up for our newsletters; they will be published on the web, sent by email or posted as required.
